    The city was the site of several disastrous floods over the years when the Mississippi River went over its banks.

    Many older residents of Dubuque remember the 1965 flood as one of the worst in the city’s history. Many areas of downtown Dubuque were under several feet of water, which resulted in damage or destruction of homes and businesses. following the 1965 flood funds were sought from the Federal government for the installation of a floodwall. This floodwall was built in the late 1960s.

    Cool video! I crossed the same bridge last Sunday, Jul 12, 2009. I was riding from Aurora, IL to Dubuque and Hazel Green :) Stopped to fish for 2 hours at lock and dam #11 before riding back to Aurora with my 2006 Ninja 250R :)

    Another great video. The more and more that I watch from you, the more I want to get my scooter. Upstate NY here has some great scenery to go motoring around on. I feel like I’m there with you on these rides, AND you give some history lessons whie you ride. Good job.

    My bike is a Kawasaki Vulcan 500. I added an inch of padding to the seat to make it more comfortable on long rides.
